Met Office issues ‘yellow alert’ as severe gales head for our area

-

Weather forecasters have issued a warning of severe gales and heavy rain sweeping across the south west, including the Burnham-On-Sea area, over the next couple of days.

The Met Office has issued a ‘yellow alert’ regarding the “potentially disruptive” winds of up to 70mph and heavy rain on Monday evening and Tuesday daytime.

“Strong winds on Monday evening have the potential to cause some disruption, especially in areas exposed to the south,” it says.

“In addition, rain will turn persistent and heavy, bringing the risk of surface water flooding over southwest England and Wales. At this stage there is some uncertainty and the public are advised to monitor forecasts to keep up-to-date with this warning.”
