Burnham-On-Sea’s rescue hovercraft charity BARB Search & Rescue received a financial boost of more than £700 during a succesful fundraising auction on Saturday (October 14th).

Local residents headed to the charity’s first 50/50 auction, held at St Andrew’s Church Hall.

A total of 111 lots went under the hammer at the auction, with half of the sale proceeds going to BARB and the other half to the seller.

Ian Walker from Tamlyns auctioneers led the event, with items selling ranging from musical instruments and furniture to bicycles and antiques.

BARB organisers Craig Dunbar and Georgia Vowles thanked all those who’d come along, saying the event raised a total of £709 for the charity.

Craig added: “We are very grateful for all the support of our first auction – the total raised exceeded our hopes and is greatly appreciated by BARB Search & Rescue. The proceeds will help to fund new equipment and training.”
