A new convenience store is to open on a housing estate in Highbridge.
Sedgemoor District Council has announced the completion of a new 10-year lease for 20-24 Morland Road.
The shop unit, pictured, has been unoccupied for 12 months after previously trading as the Highbridge Furniture Store.
The new tenant, Mr K Parameswaran, will be opening a new shop called Highbridge Convenience Store under the Best One convenience franchise.
“After a major refurbishment the new shop is due to open for trading around the 15th August,” council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“The new venture is great news for the residents of the Morland Estate who will have a handily available convenience store on the estate for the first time in three years.”
“Since the initial enquiry some two months ago the Council has worked hard to turn around a tentative enquiry to a completed lease in just over eight weeks. We wish Mr Parameswaran good luck in this business venture,” she added.
