Residents of flood-hit Burnham road thank water firm after repairs

-

Residents of a flood-hit area of Burnham-On-Sea have this week thanked a water company for spending five days working to resolve the problems.

Streets in Maple Drive and Sycamore Close were left under several inches of water last week following heavy rain, as we first reported here, and residents called for action to resolve the problems.

Local resident David Lemon told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “After the flooding of Maple Drive over the last few weeks I felt I must thank Wessex Water for their sterling work from Tuesday to late Saturday night to repair and clean the storm water drainage system.”

“They have completely serviced the system, made repairs in two places where the pipe had collapsed but, more than this, all the workers were courteous, helpful and most importantly kept us informed at all times.”

“A big thank you for all their efforts. I and they are hopeful that the system will cope with the winter rains.”

He added that residents are now hoping that Burnham Holiday Village will resolve problems with a rhyne that the storm water runs into, and thereby fully sort out the long-running problems.
