McDonald’s has no ‘confirmed plans’ to open in Burnham or Highbridge

-

Fast food giant McDonald’s has this week played down online speculation that it plans to open a new restaurant in Burnham-On-Sea or Highbridge.

The firm says it has “no confirmed plans” despite online rumours claiming that Burnham or Highbridge are earmarked for a store in recent days.

An official spokesperson in the McDonald’s UK press office told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are always looking for new sites to open new restaurants, invest in the local community and create jobs.”

“Somerset is an area we would like to continue to invest in and we are looking at several potential opportunities, but currently have no confirmed plans.”

It’s been claimed that four Somerset towns are on the McDonald’s hit list as the firm hunts for new sites for its ‘drive-thru’ restaurants.

They include Yeovil and Taunton, which already have McDonald’s restaurants but are apparently felt suited for more, along with Midsomer Norton and Burnham-On-Sea, although no specific locations have yet been identified.
