The Royal British Legion has issued an appeal for Poppy Appeal collectors to come forward in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge.
The Legion is busily preparing for its annual collections in the run-up to Remembrance Day and says it is “extremely short” of helpers in the Burnham area this year.
“If you have two hours or two weeks to help in Burnham-On-Sea or Highbridge, we would ask invite you to get in touch,” Sue Potepa, County Fundraiser, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“The Poppy Appeal is the Royal British Legion’s principal way of raising money during the year and we need volunteers of all ages to do a variety of roles such as distributing poppies and collecting on streets, in shops and in workplaces.”
During the past year The Royal British Legion has spent £90 million pounds – or £1.7 million a week – helping serving and ex service personnel. In Somerset and Bristol, over 1,200 people have received direct help. To offer help, contact Sue Potepa on 01278 442067 or by email here.
