Rain fails to stop play as Shakespeare comes to Brent Knoll

-

Over 150 people filled the garden of a Brent Knoll home on Saturday evening (June 21st) when a professional theatre company gave an outdoor performance of Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’.

Heavy rain failed to halt the performance, while those in the audience sought shelter under umbrellas.

The Festival Players Theatre Company has performed in the grounds of Ivyclad Hall for the last four years, raising thousands of pounds for the village church.

Organiser John Harper told Burnham-On-Sea.com the event had been a great success. “We were extremely lucky because the heavy rain only lasted a few minutes and did not stop another superb performance.”

“Everyone was incredibly enthusiastic about the evening and we’re looking forward to hosting Shakespeare’s Merchant Of Venice in the summer of 2009. We also thank Sanders Garden World for their financial support of this year’s event.”
