Celebrations in Burnham as Andy Murray wins historic Wimbledon title

-

Tennis fans in Burnham-On-Sea were celebrating on Sunday after watching Andy Murray’s historic win in the Wimbledon Men’s Final.

Members of Burnham’s Avenue Tennis Club gathered to watch the nerve-wracking final in which Murray became the first British man to be crowned Wimbledon champion in 77 years after beating Novak Djokovic in three straight sets.

Delighted Avenue Head Coach Vinny Duddy, pictured here celebrating at the club, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a fantastic result for Andy and a great day for British tennis.”

Large numbers of tennis fans watched in their homes and in pubs across Burnham – and there were loud cheers at Burnham’s Picnic In The Park in the Manor Gardens when the result was announced.
