Burnham-On-Sea Bowling Club hands donation to hovercraft charity BARB

-

Burnham-On-Sea Bowling Club has presented a donation to the town’s rescue hovercraft charity.

The club’s over 60s captain, Don Bridges, has handed £400 to BARB during a presentation at the seafront hovercraft station, as pictured here.

Don said: “BARB has been busy over the past year and we wanted to help by supporting this great local charity.”

He explained the team had won the Weston Over 60s Division 2 over the summer and has donated its prize money.

A BARB spokesman thanked the group and added that the donation would help towards training and equipment purchases at the hovercraft station.

BARB is run entirely by volunteers and has been called out 50 times during 2018 to incidents ranging from searches for missing people to rescues from mud.
