High tides warning for Burnham-On-Sea, Brean and Berrow this week

-

Residents in Burnham-On-Sea, Brean and Berrow have been warned to take extra care this week during a series of high tides.

The Environment Agency has issued the warning as a series of annual Spring tides is forecast. Check the Burnham-On-Sea tide times.

A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency for the Somerset coast including Minehead, Bridgwater, Burnham-On-Sea and Uphill.

A spokesman says: “Be prepared, the spring tide sequence is forecast to reach flood alert during the tides on Wednesday February 20th. Moderately low pressure will cause sea levels to be higher than forecast in tide tables.”

“Overtopping and onshore flooding may occur as a result of high water levels, affecting low lying land and roads. We are closely monitoring the situation and our staff are checking defences. Please be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal routes.”
