Burnham-On-Sea Police name man who died in Love Lane lorry collision

Police have named the man who died in a collision in Love Lane, Burnham-On-Sea on Friday 14th December as Stephen Paul Spaven, 55.

The tragedy happened while Stephen and his wife Susan were walking their family dog at 4.20pm last Friday when a Royal Mail lorry collided with him.

Mrs Spaven was also injured and, after being treated in hospital, is now recovering at home. Their dog, Toby, also sadly died.

Stephen was a much-loved husband, and father to Richard, 16 and Katelyn, 12.

Mrs Spaven said: “I would like to thank all the emergency services for their help and support, from the doctor who held my hand in the ambulance to the police family liaison officer.”

“I’m also extremely grateful to the community of Burnham for their continued support.”

The Police investigation into the collision continues, and anyone with any information which could help is asked to get in touch by calling 101, quoting reference 5218276435.
