New
incident sparks Coastguard search of sea around Brean Down
Fears
that another sea swimmer had gone missing led to a search of the
Bristol Channel besides Brean Down on Saturday afternoon (June
27th).
An
RAF helicopter from Chivenor in Devon, plus two lifeboats from
Weston, carried out a search from 1.45pm - but the rescue crews
were stood down an hour later when it was decided that the incident
had been a false alarm.
An
unconfirmed report had been received about the welfare of a swimmer
in Weston bay, however a full sea and air search of the bay was
carried out and no-one was found to be missing.
It
comes just three days after two
swimmers went missing in Weston, sparking a huge search operation.
