Secret World releases 15 rescued young ducks onto Highbridge lake

-

Local families gathered at Highbridge’s Apex Park on Thursday (July 24th) to watch Secret World Wildlife Rescue release 15 ducks onto the lake.

The 15 mallard ducks were released back into the wild, having been looked after by Secret World for the past 8-10 weeks.

The ducks were all rescued by the charity as orphans and have been reared by animal carers at their Highbridge site.  They are among 103 ducks the charity has rescued this year.

Ellie Wallace, the Learning and Engagement Officer, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This event has been a great opportunity to involve the public in the release part of the rescue, rehabilitation and release process.  We rely on public donations, so it’s wonderful to be able to share the most rewarding part of our work – animal releases – with our supporters.”

Secret World rescues over 5000 animals each year, with the aim of releasing them back into the wild.
