Coastguards called out to help lady on town seafront
Coastguards were called out this afternoon (Sunday) to help a lady
who was reported to be suffering chest pains.
team were called to Burnham's South Esplanade lawns just after 3.30pm
where the lady's son had raised the alarm.
said: "There was confusion over the initial rendezvous point,
so once on the town slip the team split up and went in search of
the person in need. After searching along the beach and The Esplanade
the lady and son were found in the shelter."
immediately deployed the first aid kit to ensure we had all the
equipment ready. After an initial assessment we managed to confirm
that it was not any form of heart pain."
lady had fallen early in the morning and now the pain was starting
to come through. We liaised closely with the ambulance service via
phone and a paramedic clinician was also in close contact to assess
a long discussion with the lady and our ops room they were happy
for her to make her own way to hospital and we were able to stand
were glad that on this occasion we did not need to intervene with
any emergency first aid and she could make her own way home without
any further help."
